Nancy Tapken is an actor, playwright and theatre producer. She co-founded Broad Cast Theatre in 2019 and is the principal playwright of Broadly Speaking… and other B.S. which performed throughout the area and was a winner of The Premiere Playhouse’s (TPP) inaugural Festival of New Plays in 2022. It was performed at the Washington Pavilion in 2023. Broad Cast Theatre’s production of Love, Loss & What I Wore won the Sioux Falls Stage Award for “Best Comedy, Variety or Dance Event or Series” in 2020.
Locally she has performed with The Sioux Falls Community Playhouse, The Premiere Playhouse/SECT, The Mighty Corson Art Players (where she also served on the board for six years), Olde Towne Dinner Theatre, Broad Cast Theatre and a one-night collab with Good Night Theatre Collective.
Nancy loves partnering and collaborating with other organizations and artists to bring theatre to life in new and creative ways. Sample work includes roles in Lombardi, God of Carnage, Calendar Girls, Erma Bombeck: At Wits End, The Little Black Dress Revue, Broadly Speaking… and other B.S., and Love, Loss and What I Wore as well as commercial work for the Sioux Falls Regional Airport. She holds a BFA from USD and studied at the Elizabeth Browning Studio in New York. She is a South Dakota Arts Council grant recipient.
