The heART of the City

Calls For Participation

The heART of the City is a collaboration between Whittier Middle School, and The Little Stone Church to uplift and support students and teachers through the creation of art. The inaugural event will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Whittier Middle School. The Sioux Falls Arts Council is looking for participants from across the Sioux Falls community to create 2D, 3D, or wearable art made from snack bags and boxes for this event.

Why SNACKS?

For students, an opportunity to snack in the classroom is a chance to calm nerves, get needed energy for critical thinking, and find motion for extra effort. The Little Stone Church is working hard to ensure there are enough snacks in the classrooms at Whittier to keep students motivated and fueled for the educational demands before them without teachers needing to pay for those snacks using their personal funds. Your art will help us illuminate the importance of fueling education through snacks and other supports for our schools. People from the community will not only enjoy your artwork, but they will also have an opportunity to learn about how to partner with us in supporting Whitter and its teachers and staff.
