About The Artist

I am a student at Augustana University pursuing a Bachelor of Fine arts in studio art with an emphasis in Ceramics. I specialize in functional work that often stimulates the mind and sparks conversation. I would describe my style as abstract, wonky, exultant, and zesty.

I am heavily influenced by my upbringing and the people around me. As a child, it was rare to see me walking around without a notepad or a sketchbook. I would draw anything from wild stories I had brewed up in my mind to the tissue box on top of my parent’s dresser in their room. The spontaneity of my style is similar to that of a child, a combination of dots, lines and shapes coming together to create a cultivating composition on my ceramic forms.

A main interest of mine is defining relationships through my artwork. I continue to ask myself things like “how will this cup relate to another’s hand?” or “will this evoke feelings of nostalgia to the person that takes the time to pick it up?” Ultimately, my work has become and will continue to go in the direction of geometric and organic shape, interesting and unique form, vivid and stimulating color, and a cultivating variety of texture.
