The City of Sioux Falls is partnering with the community to update our Sustainability Master Plan. The plan will focus on sustainability in these aspects of our community: Natural Systems, Transportation and Land Use, Energy and Buildings, Community Vitality and Sustainable Living, Sustainable Economy, and Materials Management and Waste. It will also prioritize social equity and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. There are several ways to get involved.
The City is asking youth in grades 6–12 to show their creativity by designing their sustainable Sioux Falls. They are looking for original and innovative drawings to gain ideas for the City’s future sustainability goals and actions. Designs can be of the entire city, a residence, or more. Inventive, plausible solutions are highly encouraged. A written explanation or narrative must be included with the drawing.
Students in grades 6–12 are invited to create art that illustrates what a sustainable Sioux Falls looks like. One winner in each grade will receive a Sustainability Prize Pack. Click below for the full art contest guidelines.
11th and 12th graders are invited to write an essay about their vision for a sustainable Sioux Falls. One winner in each grade will receive a $250 scholarship. Click below for the full essay contest guidelines.
