Stephen Randall
Opening Reception Friday Nov 1 5:30 – 8:00
Typically created plein-air, artist Stephen Randall utilizes familiar shapes and forms to tell the story of a particular landscape, landmark, or event. With his multi-faceted approach, Randal encourages viewers to explore the role topography, seasons, and textures play within our personal history. Taking Shape delves into the process in which Randall builds his personal impression of a space while expanding on his respect, reality and adoration of capturing a moment in time.
Through his work as a combat artist for the US Army in Vietnam, artist Randall found his passion in landscape painting. Randall’s impressionistic paintings showcase the landscapes of South Dakota, from Falls Park to Spearfish Canyon. “I believe that my paintings have relevance and significance, reinforcing a sense of place for the people of South Dakota.”
