Courtney Hart is a Midwestern mixed media artist working with primarily ceramic-based mediums, but also paint, fiber, textiles, and foraged materials. She uses these materials to explore themes such as the passage of time, cycles of life, land, object, and place, particularly the prairie where she grew up and currently resides.

Mother Nature reserves the deepest influence in her creative practice. Formations of geology, weather, life cycles of water, plants and animals all inspire the conceptual aspects of her art; while seeds, organic matter, skeletal remains, clays, sands, and soils inspire the material aspects of her work. 

Additionally, she is inspired by the work of American modernist artist Georgia O’Keeffe, land artist Andy Goldsworthy, and abstract ceramic sculptor Peter Voulkos.
