Win a Fantastic Collection of Arrowheads!

We’re so glad that you are a part of the Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village!  Your support of our endeavors means so much, not only to the board and staff of the Village, but also to the 1,400 school children who came here this spring; the thousands of visitors who have come to see this wonderful site; and to our community, which has one of the finest and most important archaeological sites in the Great Plains right in its own backyard!

Our recent excavations by the University of Exeter and Augustana College revealed several new and exciting artifacts, including a lovely projectile point made from what appears to be rose quartz – our South Dakota state mineral!  The students and professors have been very busy publishing new papers about our site, giving us much acclaim in the academic world, too.

Fundraising is an important aspect of what we must do.  Even though we charge admission fees, we still need to raise funds for continuing research, new programs, new exhibits and more.  We have a great membership club, the Old Bones Club, that offers not only free admission to our site and discounts in our gift shop, it also offers free admissions into other attractions in Mitchell, Rapid City and Hot Springs and discounts at shops and restaurants from Mitchell to the Black Hills!  You can join the Old Bones Club by going to our website at

Right now, we are raffling a great, great piece of unique art to one lucky winner!  The raffle prize is a wonderful collection of projectile points, beautifully matted and framed.  These points were recreated by the famed archaeologist, Dr. Bruce Bradley, one of the world’s finest flintknappers.  Each point represents a projectile point from various time periods (1,500 years before present to 13, 500 years before present) in the new world.  The value of this piece is estimated to be greater than $1,700!  Raffle tickets are just $1.00 each, 12 for $10, or 25 for $20.  The winning ticket will be drawn on Monday, December 1st, 2014.

The funds raised in this raffle will go to continuing educational programs and new exhibits.  As our attendance grows each year (we are up 12% this year from last year’s 13,378 visitors!) and as more and more school children come to the Village to learn of the first South Dakotans, it becomes more and more important that we continue to be the best we can be.  And, we can only do that with your help!

To purchase tickets, please let us know by calling us at 605-996-5473 or emailing us at  As I said earlier, your continued support means so much to all of us!

Thank you and we do hope that you come to visit us soon,

Cindy Gregg
Executive Director

P.S. If you just want to donate (remember, because we are a 501(c)(3), it’s a tax deduction!) you can visit our website just to make a donation, too.  Just go to our home page!
