South Dakota 2014: Artists Respond to the State’s 125th Anniversary

The Center for Western Studies has announced South Dakota 2014: Artists Respond to the State’s 125th Anniversary.

This will be a Juried Art Exhibit and Sale, held in the galleries of the Center’s Fantle Building, June 10-September 27, 2014.

We are offering a grand prize of $2,500 and $1,500 in additional cash prizes.

The Center for Western Studies at Augustana College participated fully in South Dakota’s Centennial observance in 1989: the “History of the Arts in South Dakota” project, directed by Harry Thompson and funded by the Humanities Council and the Arts Council, and the “Great Plains Art Show and Sale,” which was part of the Centennial Finale Arts Showcase in Pierre.

Additional information about the South Dakota 2014 juried art exhibit and sale may be found at http://www.augie.edu/news/2013-11/art-exhibit-sale-commemorate-south-dakotas-quasquicentennial.
