Though artist Daniel Van Gerpen and sculptor Jacob Harvey have established homes elsewhere, their current series speaks to their deeply embedded Midwest roots. In their show, Terrain of Memory Van Gerpen & Harvey invite us to explore the familiar; in all its beauty, complexity, & its power to shape what’s to come.

About the artists
Daniel Van Gerpen:
Daniel grew up in the Midwest and began creating art at an early age fostered by a painterly mother and a pastoral father. With continued education and exploration Daniel has worked to develop a style that reflects the contemplative nature of the natural landscape.
Daniel studied at the University of South Dakota, where he began to absorb the lessons of the many artists and mentors he first encountered and gleaned information from. Van Though he currently resides in Fresno, CA with his wife working as a graphic designer and artist Daniel continues to explore and expand his craft.

Jacob Harvey:
Born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD, Jacob Harvey received his Bachelor of Arts from Augustana University. Upon graduation, Harvey began work at Bronze Age Casting where he began an evolving pursuit of finding the elemental cohesion between bronze and stone.
Currently, Harvey’s work is focused on exploring our changing world through the creation of human forms, animals, and mythical characters. Currently, Harvey is working at Art Castings of Colorado in Loveland, CO where he continues to hone his craft.
