Artists, professional and amateur, are welcome to submit work for the 3rd Annual Brewhaha event at Museum of Visual Materials from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm on February 22nd, 2014.
Brewhaha is the annual fundraiser of REACH (formerly the Sioux Falls Area Literacy Council). This unique event combines beer tasting, storytelling and socializing in order to raise awareness of illiteracy in our community and funds to provide the resources needed for one –on-one tutoring of local adults who cannot read. This year, the event will also feature a silent auction and raffle of original, booked-themed art.
As such, REACH is currently seeking entries of book-themed works, in all media by the creating artist. Oil, acrylic, watercolor, sculpture, jewelry, pottery, collages or digital photography and other print media are welcome. Commercially produced prints will not be accepted for auction. All entries should relate to books, literacy, words or reading in some way or utilize recycled books. Final pieces must be presented on a canvas, framed or otherwise ready for display or wear.
Completed painting, paper and other print media should be no larger than 24 inches x 36 inches; Sculptures should be of a height and weight appropriate for winning bidders to transport home at the end of the evening unassisted. Artists will receive 10 percent of the auction sale price, along with two tickets to the event.
