Sue Kaihoi is a textile artist based out of Sioux Falls, SD. Sue creates collages and wall tapestries using repurposed and vintage natural textiles. Her designs are simple, modern, and unexpected. With her art, she hopes to inspire feelings of warmth, contemplation, and curiosity. Sue prefers to leave her work untitled and allow the viewer to interpret them personally.
Elements of her work include wools and linens, layering, hand-stitching, and embroidery. The use of shape, form and color of artist Ellsworth Kelly and the simple use of repurposed textiles in the art of the quilters of Gee’s Bend are continuous inspirations.
She feels that her work is ever evolving as her curiosity and skills are awakened and challenged.
