Music in the Anthropocene – A Panel Discussion

Panel: John Luther Adams, Delta David Gier, Randell Beck, and Norman Bliss

Join SDSO Music Director Delta David Gier and Pulitzer Board President Randell Beck for a panel discussion about John Luther Adams’ prize-winning orchestral work Become Ocean and the environmental changes that inspired it. The composer will be present for the panel, as will Norman Bliss, Principal Scientist with ASRC Federal InuTeq, a contractor to the U.S. Geological Survey at the Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS). An environmental activist as well as composer, Adams will discuss his life’s work as well as the inspiration for “Become Ocean,” to be performed by the SDSO on their opening program October 8th.

Light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available.
